Lots Of Music from Big Grey Sound Studio
There
have been a lot of very exciting projects out of Big Grey in the
last few months. We recommend you check out new albums from
Meaghan
Blanchard, Colette
Cheverie, J
J Chaisson, The
New Royalty and also, an awesome series of podcasts featuring
exclusive interviews and acoustic performances by 15 of PEI's
finest songwriters: Close
To The Coast Radio.
We are currently working on a cool
new recording for fiddler Courtney Hogan, and a really magical
project with singer/songwriter/bassist Chas Guay - great songs,
and the Island's best musicians all involved.
We are
accepting winter bookings now, so if you're looking to have
something new out for 2009, now is the time to get in touch to
discuss your project needs.

A Busy Winter!
Winter
2008 has marked the busiest recording season ever for Big Grey
Sound Studio. Here are some of the projects we're working on, in
many different genres:
Multi-intrumentalist
J.J. Chaisson just wrapped up a stellar traditional fiddle and
guitar album, featuring contributions from many members of the
Chaisson family.
One to watch
for this summer is Hunter River singer/songwriter Meaghan
Blanchard's 6-song EP. This one features a real who's who of
crack session players, all bringing to life some AMAZING
compositions from Meaghan...who just happens to also sing like an
angel. We think this project is pretty special.
This summer
should see the release of the debut album from Celtic Ladies
vocalist Colette Cheverie. Hailing from Souris, PEI, Colette is a
gorgeous singer and a master interpreter, and she has collected
some dandy less-heard traditional songs, along with some tunes
from her favorite UK songwriters. Mix in a phenominal cast of
backing musicians, and you have a project that should turn some
heads.
Jon Matthews
and Sandbar Music's Lloyd Doyle have been colleborating on a new
podcast which will feature the songwriters of PEI performing live
in-studio and chatting about their creative process. Close to
twenty of the Island's great solo and band songwriters came
through the doors, and there were some special moments captured.
Keep checking back for details on when the first episode will be
available.
On top of all
these, we've also been working on a classical folk album with
Stephen Bouey, songwriter demos for Bryson Guptill, Ted Simmons,
Eli MacDougall and Myles MacKinnon, vocal demos for David Foster
Starsearch New Brunswick winner Richard MacDougall, and some
mastering for ECMA nominee Matt Andersen.
Big Grey Sound
Studio is now accepting summer bookings. Please contact Jon by
phone or email (see contact info above) to discuss your recording
needs!
